Of Counsel
Erik Helbing is the founding principal of Helbing Law Group, LLC, a practice specializing exclusively in consumer rights, which includes foreclosure defense, credit collection defense, and bankruptcy. Having represented countless clients in numerous complex consumer rights matters, his experience and dedication ensures the best possible outcome for his clients and their families. Accordingly, Erik’s depth of knowledge and experience in these areas is an asset to Compass Rose Legal Group, and his counsel and expertise is appropriately leveraged by the firm.
To that end, Erik leads the Compass Rose Financial Debt Recovery Program, the firm’s practice area specially designed for federal employees, federal contractors, members of our active duty and reserve military, and those who hold security clearances. This is critical as the firm prepares to mitigate the Federal Government’s concerns about our client’s financial history vis a vis their ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance and federal employment. Given that a large proportion of adverse security clearance actions (as well as federal employment suitability actions) are based on financial concerns, Erik’s expertise in this area is critical and can achieve a two-fold net positive result: our ability to restructure the financial health of our clients, and the ability to obtain a favorable security clearance/federal employment suitability determination. Prior to private practice, Erik served as a law clerk. Specifically, he clerked for the Honorable Thomas I. Vanaskie, Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Honorable Charles M. Middlesworth, Superior Court of Atlantic County, New Jersey. Furthermore, Erik served with the United States Department of Justice Office of the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
