Ahead of “The Social Reckoning”: Revisiting Frances Haugen’s Facebook Disclosures

On October 9, 2026, Sony Pictures will release The Social Reckoning, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. The film dramatizes the 2021 disclosures of Frances Haugen, the former Facebook product manager who became known as the Facebook Whistleblower. Mikey Madison portrays Ms. Haugen.

Andrew P. Bakaj’s role

In 2021, Andrew P. Bakaj served as lead counsel to Ms. Haugen in his capacity as counsel with Whistleblower Aid, the nonprofit legal organization that represented her, while concurrently serving as managing partner of Compass Rose Legal Group. Andrew was at her side as she testified before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and, overseas, before the British Parliament, the French Parliament, and the European Parliament.

The Social Reckoning is a feature film. Like most films based on real events, it may combine, compress, or invent characters, dialogue, and scenes. Andrew did not consult on the film, and the firm does not comment on how the film portrays any individual or event.
